Motivation and Marijuana
It may not be just drugs, possibly any sort of addictive behavior; but in this personal case, its the good old ganja. In the fabricated words of Afroman, "I was gonna script the website.. but then I got high". Its proven that weed causes confusion, declining performance, and difficulty in finishing tasks. Tasks much like say... designing a website?
The most common argument against weed is that it is linked to 'amotivational syndrome'. The affects of this is that pot alters the state of mind, so initially you may have a great idea when high, but lose motivation when sober, or have a great idea sober but have a constant craving for the drug whenever free time to complete a task occurs. This might also be just an issue of the addictive Ora of the substance, causing a blotch in the mind to fill any empty time frame.
Thousands of years ago Marijuana was used as an herbal medicine to CURE absent-mindedness, and i believe people may use facts like this to support there addiction but at the same time abuse the drug to cause a negative affect. Marijuana can be a good thing if used correctly, we need to separate our mindset of work, play, and medicine and responsibly limit the amount of drug access that can be consumed in these categories.
All I'm trying to say is (words to the editors of this site) Quit toking all the fucking POT and give the people a decent website. This is my official boost in the content being delivered to this website, and I hope we can work together, and upload on a constant, to a nice, well rounded website. Any of the many pedestrians we advertise the site to will be disappointed at the lack of work and just brush it off as another piece of shit idea a bunch of stoners bailed on as soon as it took some effort. And i don't want to be the only one uploading- people will be bored of me and my opinions, we need to all feed this monster were creating; and Creating NOW, not later, I'm done procrastinating, lets make this our goal for the first half of this semester to give LIFE to this site. This layout is fine for now, just make sure everything fits nice, and focus on content, content, content. The look of the site is useless if there's nothing here, give us something to work with when designing archives. Plus its easier to draw a sweet picture you drew in class, scan and upload it, then it is to find a medium between all you guys on where the site is headed. ESPECIALLY since no one really has a fucking opinion and all it says on the front page is we're "brainstorming tons of features and stuff". NO WE ARE NOT, that is a lie! We're not doing shit, where getting together, getting high, playing Mario kart, going to McDonald's and fucking jerking off on the entire project. Echlin is paying for this site, and when it comes time to pitch another 20 bucks towards the site I don't want him saying, "fuck this, we havent done anything, I'm using this from weed money". When that day comes I wanna be like "FUCK YEAH 20 bucks, I'll just take it out of the sponsor money, and use the rest to make shirts" OR some shit like that. Lets Go, this is what we have, its what connects us all, there's infinite options for what we can do with this site, so all I'm asking is we just take it in any direction and shape it slowly into the BEST FUCKING SITE IT CAN BE.
